Second Chime - [voice/action]

[Since today isn’t raining and it’s nice outside, Rhyme is sitting outside on the porch of All Passions. She’s leaned over in her chair, shoes resting on the edge of her seat with her arms and head resting on her knees, watching people go about their day in the plaza.

For the past few days, Rhyme has been like this, staring out into space with an almost thoughtful yet sad look on her face. And it’s because of this.

Of course this isn’t the first time she’s thought about dreams. It’s come to her mind several times in her time here. How could it not? It’s like a curse that follows her wherever she goes, whether it be the UG or here in Luceti. But now… she can’t seem get it off her mind.

Maybe it's because she's sad.  Maybe even jealous of some of the people here?  A mix of both sounds right.  They have dreams that they can work towards, give up for others or have even made some come true already.

Like Shiki who got her own store and designs clothes.

Neku, who wants to run a coffee shop.

Haruhi who runs a brigade to help people.

...But that means that if they can keep moving forward here, there might be something here for her too, right? Of course! There has to be. Beat’s taught her to never give up on finding a dream for herself but… how to get started? How would she even start to find something here?

After a thinking a bit more to herself, she pulls out her journal and opens it up] Has anyone ever had a dream?   Like... an ambition in life.  It could be one that you had back home or maybe even found here in Luceti.  [A brief pause]  What was it and how did you find it?

[Another pause while she giggles to herself, a little embarrassed] I'm sorry for all the questions, I just wanted to get an idea.

Growing up, my dream was to become a doctor. I was finally able to realize that before I was brought here; and I work at the village clinic, too.

That's really fortunate! I'm glad to hear that you've been able to fulfill your dream back home and here. [A little jealous, but happy nonetheless] How did you know you wanted to be a doctor?

[He wants to say something so he turns on the journal.

But he can't think of anything. It's his fault she's like this.... He can't even give her a dream either. She's troubled because of him and he has no idea how to fix it. After a long pause, he closes the book and goes to find her, running across Luceti to figure out where she could be. It takes a bit, but eventually, he comes across her at All Passions.

Time to fake a smile.]

[When she spots Beat coming around All Passions, she sits up straight, putting her feet back on the ground and smiles lightly. It isn't at all forced luckily, just a little sad looking]

Oh, hey Beat! Not much, just thinking. Are you keeping out of trouble?

A dream?

Well, I guess you could say my dream was to become a Bracer. I wanted to be strong enough to protect the people I care about.

What's a Bracer?

My dream? Well, I've already achieved it, but join the Army and have a family.

It's one of those things where something just calls to you. A call that doesn't stop until you follow through with it.

When I met my wife...you know, before we were married, she drove me crazy. And then the adrenaline-rush of the Army...

[He's hoping that's a little help.]

[She giggles a little. She wishes that she could understand what he meant... to have something that just calls to her. A dream that she knows is meant for her. But she's happy for him either way!

Accomplishing both of those dreams is definitely something to be proud of and congratulated on. Especially having a family]

Those both sound like wonderful dreams! I'm happy to hear that you achieved both of them. I hope I can a calling like that one day.

[As soon as she hears the girl's question via the journals, Shiki and Mr. Mew are going to come join Rhyme on the porch. She could use a break anyway.]

[She rests her journal down on her lap when she spots Shiki coming out to join her then looks back out at the crowd of people]

Diversity. [Like Shibuya. Would reading their thoughts be the same as it was in the UG too?]

...some, over the course of my life. And some dreams that go beyond personal ambition. For the most part, they were never carried to fruition, but with time I settled into the one course in life that does suit me.

Why do you ask this question?

Ah-really? [She's jealous he's managed to have more than one] What's this one that you settled into?

[She hesitates] I... don't have any dreams. I've never been able to find one of my own.

I'm not much of a dreamer myself, I don't think there's anythin' wrong with not havin' a dream either.

Really? [That's a first time she's heard someone say that] Why do you say that?

[Hmm, that voice sounds rather familiar. He doesn't quite connect it with the girl he helped out before, though.]

Well, I had the ambition to become a doctor. I'd become interested in what science could do after reading all kinds of ridiculous science fiction stories as a kid, and was impressed by medicine in particular after I watched doctors save my brother's life. It just seemed like a field where I could really make a difference and help a lot of people.

If you're looking for an ambition, you should explore a bunch of different subjects. Do some reading, try out different jobs, take some lessons or classes. You'll figure out what your interests are eventually.

Oh wow! Well, that's very sweet of you! [She beams] Wanting to become a doctor to help people and wanting to make a difference in the world.

I'll definitely try to do that though! I wonder where I should start... [So many things to read up on and lessons to learn]

A dream? Do you mean like something you want to accomplish in your life?

Mhmm! That's exactly what I mean.

My dream was to prove to just about the world that a woman can be just as strong as a man. I found it because I just got sick and tired of seeing the kunoichi get the dumbed down things just because they were woman and I sought out to change the system. To do that, I had to train twice as much as a guy did all so I could just be equal with them. [ Girls learn about arranging flowers. Guys learn how to sock people in the face and shoot fireballs out of their mouths. Definitely a gender struggle there. ]

I'm still doing it though, so I'm not quite done yet. [ Rhyme's voice helps ease Tenten into the candid thoughts that center her dream and ambition. ]

Oh wow, that's an amazing dream!! [It has to be tough but it'll be really worth it in the end. Show them Tenten!]

Well, I'm definitely supporting you and your dream. I know you can do it!

You don't look for a dream, you know. Or ambition. It's something that happens organically, so unless you're unfit to be living in the first place, you'll eventually get one.

Hm... I hope that really is the case. But even if I eventually just get one on my own, I wanted to listen to what other people's dreams are.
