Fourth Chime - [voice/action]

[It’s been just about a month now since Shiki and Neku have both left Luceti. To be without them both—especially Shiki—considering that they’ve been with her ever since she got here, has been weird and it hasn't really been easy either. Especially with Rhyme's death and her penalty both weighing down on her and Beat pretty heavily.

Losing both the ability to use her hands and the shoulder Shiki provided for her to lean on has pulled her down the most. Without her hands, there wasn't much she could do, not even eating or drinking without some kind of help which mostly came from Beat. And without Shiki, well, there wasn't someone she could talk to about it since talking about it with Beat only made him feel worse than he already did. She didn't want that.

So she's been keeping a smile on her face and her head held high, for him and herself. Besides, not all things were as bad as they seemed. She knew this, which helped. Shiki and Neku went home to beat the Game, to live on, and Shiki didn't go leaving nothing behind. She gave Rhyme a purpose even with her hands as they are.

She had helped her friend around All Passions ever since she got to Luceti so she knows how things work. And coming from Shibuya, a city of trends, she can handle fashion and clothing. But there's one thing she can't do herself there... so today, while things are finally calming down again, she opens up her journal--]

I’d like to ask for some help. My friend who owned All Passions, Shiki, left not too long ago and she left me the shop to take care of while she’s gone.

I’m not really able to make clothes myself right now so I was wondering if anyone who knows how to sew or if any one of her apprentices would like to work here. I can teach anyone who wants to about the trends and fashion styles that are in the shop since I’d like to keep that as close to the same as possible. [She can’t expect it to be the exact way it was of course but she knows the Shibuya style by heart and Shiki has a lot of that in here so anything close will work.]

There'd be no pay since Luceti doesn't have money and all, but any help would be greatly appreciated!

[And while she’s at it!] Also, All Passions has started its summer line. Please come by if you’d like custom made and wing friendly clothes that are ready for the heat and beach!

[And there the feed ends.

All day, Rhyme will be spending her time at All Passions either out on the porch watching the people in the plaza or inside organizing things and making things look nice. It’s difficult to be productive when she can’t use her hands to sew but she’s trying her hardest.]

[She giggles a little] It's okay Beat, you don't have to apologize. You've still been a great help with other things.

But yeah, I'm sure there are some people here who can sew! I know Shiki was teaching a few before she left at least.

Yanno, Shiki was aight as a teacher, but only when she wasn't tyin' you to a chair to do it.

She didn't teach you that trick, did she?

[Okay she has to laugh now]

No, she didn't teach me how to do that. [Maybe next time she's here, Beat]

So you need help with somethin'? 'Cause I'm kinda bored and Ribbons' chicken-kid is starin' at me.

[And it freaks him out. Save him, Rhyme.]

[Stare back Beat]

I could use some help, I think! I'm trying to organize the shop's summer line and put things out on display. There are also some things I might need help with putting in the storage room.

[But it has beady eyes. Beady eyeeeeeeeeeeees]

Aight. Leave the heavy liftin' to me, yo!

[---Oh crap, that was an awful thing to say. He sputters as he flounders in his room for a moment, tripping over things as he hurries out the door.]

Yanno, 'cause I'm stronger than you n' stuff!

[Stare into those beady eyes like you've never stared before.

She blinks when she hears him fumbling about but giggles a bit, not minding the first comment at all to begin with] I'll leave the heavy lifting to you, Beat. Thanks. It'll be a great help but just be sure to be careful.

[But they stare back.]

Chyeah, I'm alway--

[There's a long bang and the feed cuts off for a bit.

Thirty seconds later and it comes back on.]

Goddamn walls.

An'way, I'm on my way, so donchu worry!

[It's because they love you.

She blinks again when the feed is suddenly cut then smiles when it comes back and she hears him. OH BEAT...] Alright. Please watch where you're going!

"This heated beach, is it so warm that clothing is to melt should someone go there? Is that why someone would need special clothes for it?"

Rhyme has to blink on that one before she goes to reply, "No, the clothes wouldn't melt or anything like that. It's just that because it's summer and it's a bit warmer on the beach, clothing made from light material that would let air flow through it easily would be more comfortable to wear."

"Oh. I see. I've only ever had my one outfit so this is all very new to me."

"You've only worn one outfit?" Another blink. It's strange, though Rhyme isn't one to judge and she won't. The woman no doubt has a reason for this and she wasn't going to pry for those reasons. So instead, she decides to settle on helping her out.

"Would you like to come to All Passions and pick out some new outfits? I can help you, if you'd like.

There is a slight confusion to her voice, her experiences outside were all with students that always seemed to be in the same uniforms and an android so she doesn't exactly have a good demographic to go off of.

"Is that something that happens outside? I am still learning how people here function, but I would love any assistance I can get."

Inwardly, she has to wonder what kind of world this woman had come from. "It is! And I'll help you in any way that I can. Do you know where the plaza is?"

She nodded a bit still with a slight twinge of confusion in her voice.

"Is it near the center of town where the water spirits dance and play?"

"Yep, it's right in the center of town! It'll be to your right when you first walk into the plaza. I'll wait on the front porch for you too so you'll be able to see me outside."

"I shall be there shortly then! I do not believe myself to be too far from that place as I have been looking for coins to offer the spirit of the fountains."

"Coins?" It feels as though it's been a long time since she's heard of someone tossing coins in a fountain to make a wish. Though truth be told she hasn't heard someone do it for the spirit of the fountain before. "Have you been able to find any?" She's curious, really, especially because Luceti is known for not having any money.

"No, I have not. Upon first arriving a strange man who claimed to be a pirate was demanding them, yet I never saw them. It has been a minor quest of mine, along with learning the lay of the land and finding the master of the domain to petition for a place to store things I may come across... And hide from the rain in should it come."

"I see. I don't think you'll be able to find any coins here since Luceti doesn't have money but... do you mean you don't have a place to stay right now?" She frowns.

"No, I don't. I have not had a home since I left the Velvet Room, I do not sleep, I have nothing so it never has been an issue before."

I know how to hand-stitch, if that would be of any help.

It would be a great help! [Anything can be helpful at this point, really. Even if hand stitching wouldn't be best for the clothing style, it could be used on hats and bags!]

[Someone's sitting on the bench of All Passion's por---ch, oh. It's Rhyme. For a split second, Haruhi thought it might have been Shiki. Or Minato. Two dear, dear people to her who used to work there. Alas, both are gone. With nothing better to do at the moment, she makes her way over to said porch-]

Hey.

[Rhyme smiles when Haruhi walks over to the shop and lifts a hand, one she had started to raise a moment ago when she saw her out in the plaza, and gives her a small wave.]

Hey, Haruhi! What are you up to?

Nothing, right now. [And she leans up against the rail of the porch, smoothing out her skirt] What're you doing?

Taking a short break right now! I've been inside the shop getting everything displayed nicely for the summer line. [And while it's been difficult she's managed to get quite a bit done. With and without Beat's help]

Yeah? I guess there were enough designs and enough finished products the last the summer even on what she had left. [Not to belittle Rhyme's skills, or at least that's not her intention, it's more just an eyeroll at just how much of Shiki's ended up being left.]

[Rhyme doesn't take it as belittlement. She couldn't even put her very little sewing skills to good use right now with her hands as they are.]

Yep! She was starting the summer line before she left so I was able to take what she finished and put them up even though it wasn't much. I also found some things from last year in storage. I'll need some help to work on her other unfinished designs soon though.

Not to mention even with her neurocies you'll run out designs eventually, probably by this winter. Or at least good designs, anyway. [For every good design Shiki has, there's at least a dud or two. If you ask Haruhi]

[There's a light giggle] Unfortunately, you're right. [She isn't even sure how many designs Shiki left behind and for what seasonal lines. But gotta stay positive!!] But hopefully before winter I'll be able to use my hands again so I can start to make some more designs before we do run out completely. They won't be as good as Shiki's work but it's better than nothing! And we still have a lot of extra clothes from last years lines to keep the store stocked until next spring.

[The reminder of Rhyme's hands is really uncomfortable. She sighs a little, to herself, and weighs making a response to that or an offer to help but... no, All Passions isn't quite "her" space, whatever twopronged attachment she has to it.]

Or you could just hire some employees.

That's what I'm hoping to do, actually! [She beams] I made an entry over the journals earlier today asking if anyone who knew how to sew would volunteer to help. I know Shiki had a few apprentices so I'm hoping they'll be willing.

Well, if that don't answer this call, we can just force them later.

[Her Brigade's had trouble recruiting, after all, so...]

No, I don't want to force anyone to answer. It's fine if they don't want to work here. I'm just asking for volunteers, after all. [Wouldn't be a 'volunteer' otherwise.]

Why not? It would do some people some good, they just don't know it yet.
